When you take a photo or choose one from your library, all analysis — the AI comparison against our catalog of album covers — runs locally on your device. Your photo is not sent to us or to any third party, and it is not stored anywhere except on your own phone. When you share a result, the side-by-side card is created on your device and shared only through the apps you choose (Messages, Instagram, etc.).
The app requires no account and has no login. We never collect, store, or transmit your personal information, your photos, or the content of your matches.
We collect anonymous usage statistics to understand how the app is used — for example, that a match or daily challenge was played, a result was shared, or how long a download took. These events contain only counts, categories, and timings; never your photos, never the albums you matched, and they are not linked to your identity (we use Google Firebase Analytics without the advertising identifier; no tracking across apps).
We also use Apple's built-in App Analytics (downloads, sessions, crashes), which is likewise aggregate and anonymous. See Apple's App Analytics.
The app works offline for matching. It makes network requests only to:
We do not operate a server. There is no backend that receives your data.
Album cover images are provided by the Cover Art Archive and Apple Music, and shown with attribution. Release metadata originates from MusicBrainz and Discogs.
Spinning Image is rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app requires no account.
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and note the change in the next app update's release notes.
